Help Alexa After Her Critical Injury
Donation protected
On November 26, 2024 Alexa fell and fractured her skull causing a significant bleed on her brain. She had to be air evac'ed to a Trauma Center in Phoenix, Arizona from her home in Prescott.
She was taken into surgery where the doctors had to remove part of her skull to stop the bleeding on her brain and to relieve the pressure the bleeding was causing. She was placed into the ICU and placed on a ventilator and put into an induced coma to continue to keep the swelling down on her brain.
The first 48 hours were critical as the team of doctors that were overseeing her case were not certain on the amount of damage the bleed had caused or if she would survive.
When she woke the next day she was unable to speak as she was intubated and she was quite confused about what was happening.
Her vital signs were strong and stable so the decision was made to attempt removing the ventilator to see if she was able to breathe on her own. Fortunately, she was successfully able to breathe. She was able to speak but confused.
She was evaluated by Physical, Occupational and Speech therapies and presents with challenges that will require inpatient rehab. She continues to be in ICU at this point.
Lexa is a single woman and will be unable to return to work for an unknown period of time and her prognosis will only be known with time. She will need help paying for her care.
We are hoping to give her some support financially as her care is expected to be long term and for an unknown period of time. Any amount will help. We wish her luck in her recovery.
Thank you for all you support.
