Road to the US Amateur

I qualified for the 2017 US Amateur! I drove 9 hours up to Wadsworth, IL and played in a 36 hole qualifer on July 5 where I shot 67-71 and earned one of the three qualifying spots. This year's championship is held at the prestigious Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, CA August 12-19. This will be my last amateur event that I will compete in (unless I win and earn an exemption into the Masters next spring).

Getting to the tournament requires some money however....  
My expenses include:

Flight: $130/each way
Hotel: $229/night (10)
Caddy: $125/day (9)
Dinner: $20/day (10)
Shorts: $30/pair (4)
Shirts: $30 (4)

I lucked out finding cheap flights which is exciting. The tournament has arranged the players to stay at the Hotel Angeleno, located less than 10 minutes from the golf course. Also offered through the tournament, are caddies. These caddies work full time at the club, so they know the course better than anyone, and will help me succeed. Breakfast and lunch are provided each day so the only meal I have to handle is dinner. Now since the tournament is televised, I figure my faded out shorts and shirts from college probably wont do. After all, you have to look good to play good.
