Hey, my name is Alex and I have been contracted to march another season of WGI for the last time ever!
Since I was little, participating in these groups had always been a dream and passion of mine. I always spent my free time practicing and working to get better. When I wasn't practicing, I was participating in ensembles. In 2017, I broke my collarbone which pushed me out of the activity for some time. Now, Im extremely excited to return to this activity to finally age out -- but I can only do it with your help!
This season I will be going back to Ancient City Ensemble (ACE), an Open Class WGI group in Orlando, Florida. ACE travels both statewide and nationally, performing a high level show for competition. The shows have to be written both musically and visually, they have to buy uniforms, props, equipment, sticks, drum heads, etc. Naturally, doing all of that costs money and these ensembles are not government funded. That means members pay to march ($1900 fees), and for me that becomes a challenge. Being based in Orlando means I have a particularly long drive. Rehearsals take place every Friday-Sunday, which basically means I'll live in Orlando every weekend until April. Between the ensemble fees, gas, food, and other bills I pay just in my regular living, these conditions make participating really financially demanding for me. I know that times are tough, but it would really mean everything to me if you would make a donation. Even the smallest amount will help a great deal.
