<div>My name is Leigh Monley and I am Dane's Aunty and I am wanting to raise much needed funds for his partner Alaina as she battles breast cancer.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In September 2024, our beloved Alaina received a life-altering diagnosis of Stage 2 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Her2 positive Breast Cancer. This aggressive cancer has deeply affected her life and that of her family, including her partner Dane and their three children, one of whom has a disability.

<div><strong>**The Journey So Far**</strong>

<div><br />
</div>
<div>- Alaina’s diagnosis came after a routine mammogram led to further tests and a biopsy.
</div>
<div>- She has undergone numerous scans and a breast MRI, which revealed additional affected areas.
</div>
<div>- A Portacath was inserted in November, coinciding with their son's birthday, marking the beginning of her chemotherapy journey.
</div>
<div>- Unfortunately, Alaina experienced a severe reaction to Doxorubicin, delaying her treatment and necessitating a costly medication, Perjeta, not covered by insurance.
</div>

<div><strong>**Financial and Emotional Strain**</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The financial burden has been overwhelming. The cost of Perjeta alone is $6000, forcing Alaina to access her Superannuation under difficult circumstances. Additionally, a Staph infection on Christmas Eve required hospitalization, adding to the strain.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Alaina has reduced her work to one shift a week but sometimes cannot attend work due to being unwell, impacting the family’s finances, especially with school and daycare fees as her wage would cover these.
</div>

</div>
<div><strong>**Upcoming Challenges**</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Alaina is scheduled for a major surgery in April 2025, involving a Lumpectomy and Lymph node removal. This will incur additional out-of-pocket expenses, and depending on the results, more treatment may be necessary.
</div>
