Help Aidan Reach His Rowing Camp Goal
Donation protected
I remember my first time rowing; I got easily frustrated because of all the new, hard-to-follow steps. I would come back the next day, expecting it to click and become instantaneously easier, but it never did. How naïve was I. Learning to row was slow and aggravating, impossible and unrewarding. But I kept showing up to practice, and slowly but surely, I began to improve.
At the time, I definitely didn’t think that it would become so important to me. However, as I spent more time at the boat club, I realized that I was becoming stronger and happier. I realized that rowing had become my passion. So, during the spring and summer of sophomore year, I poured all of my time into improving.
Every extra minute was spent biking the ten miles to and from the boathouse, rowing on the water in the early mornings, working out at the YMCA, and going to evening rows. Eventually, I got good enough to think about competing in college. So, with the intention of pursuing more exposure to competitive rowing, I applied to a competitive summer rowing camp called Penn AC Gold, using this video https://youtu.be/7vBHiYdCJfM. And just over a month ago, I received an email that I was accepted.
As one of only 32 young men(ish*) chosen to attend, I will be trained by numerous college coaches, surrounded by like-minded individuals determined to improve their rowing skills, and race at the US Rowing RowFest National Championships.
So here is the ask. Camp tuition is $7,900, and I have been working to cover half of the tuition. I am grateful for any donation you are willing and able to make, every penny will help me attend this rowing camp. Thank you for considering being a part of my goal and journey to Penn AC.
