Acorn is a 2-year-old mixed breed; we suspect boxer and pit bull. We rescued her from the Humane Society of Huron Valley back in December of 2022. She was just a small puppy, found alone.
My oldest child trained her, and she is a very loved addition to our family. Her nicknames include but of course are not limited to "baby corn," "corn," "corners," in all different pitches, naturally.
She started limping back in April. We took the steps to heal it if it was a sprain or pull, medicated her so she would stay off it to allow for healing. This did not work. We got X-rays taken. Nothing showed up. Sent to a specialist. Had a CAT scan done. She has elbow dysplasia. Both elbows. Her left elbow specifically, the one she's limping on, has a cracked bone that needs to be removed.
I have spent over $2,400 of my own up to this point just to diagnose the limping. The surgery is estimated to cost anywhere from $5,200 to $6,300. I need any help I can get. I know times are rough, but if you can spare anything, it would really help increase her mobility and life. We would be forever grateful.
