Help Abubakar Hassan recover from a severe Stroke
My name is Sahra Yusuf Mohamed and I’m from Bristol, United Kingdom. The person I’m raising money for is Abubakar Hassan and he’s my elderly great uncle from my dad’s side who is in his 80s. This individual has suffered from a severe stroke back home in Hargeisa, Somaliland on the 6th November 2020 which left him with no speech and paralysed on his entire right side. This has disheartened the whole family. He’s currently in a neurology hospital on life support and this brain operation has already been paid for and completed for 1.6k. Now he’s in recovery post-op (stroke rehabilitation), speech and language therapy and the family back home are struggling to cover the cost of his other needs i.e daily bed cost, his life support, medications, wheelchairs, and needing carers to look after him when he recovers in his home. All the costs to cover this needs to come from the community and distant family as he’s never been married or had kids and there isn’t any healthcare benefits back home so everything needs to be paid for. The family back home have reached out to us to help with raising funds and it was my idea to create a gofundme page to ask the greater community to give us a hand raising these funds. So in order for the money to reach the right people to help cover these costs, we’ve discussed and arranged for the money to be given to my uncle Ahmed, who is also Abubakar’s nephew. Ahmed, who is also Abubakar’s nephew and he will relocate to his house permanently and will be assisting him when the carers aren’t there as he’ll be bed bound. The best thing for me to do is to do the little that I can and use my platform to help spread the word and raise as much awareness and funds as possible as they’re relying on us and we’d love to relieve their financial stresses and allow them to just focus on his recovery.
