<div>Some students pass through a classroom and are remembered for a semester. Others leave an imprint on your heart forever. Abner is one of those rare individuals. He arrived in this country with his parents as a young man determined to build a better future, and from the moment I met him, his character, work ethic, and compassion stood out. He was an exceptional student who approached every challenge with perseverance and every person with respect.
</div>
<div>Over the years, I had the privilege of watching him grow into a remarkable adult. He graduated, built meaningful relationships, contributed positively to his community, and recently celebrated one of life’s happiest milestones—marrying the woman he loves. His future was filled with hope, promise, and opportunity.
</div>
<div>Today, that future is overshadowed by the heartbreaking reality that he has been detained by ICE and faces deportation to Brazil. For those who know Abner, this is not just an immigration case; it is the story of a husband, a brother, a friend, and a former student whose life has become deeply rooted here. His absence would leave an immeasurable void in the lives of those who love him.
</div>
<div>As an educator, I have taught many students, but few possess the integrity, resilience, and genuine goodness that Abner demonstrates every day. He has always sought to uplift others, never asking for anything except the chance to work hard and contribute. Watching him face separation from his family and community is profoundly painful.
</div>
<div>When I think of Abner, I do not think of paperwork or legal status. I think of a young man who worked tirelessly to achieve his dreams, who built a loving marriage, and who became a source of pride for everyone fortunate enough to know him. His story is one of determination, hope, and humanity—a story that deserves compassion and understanding.
