Help Abdulla get back to the UK and start Uni

Donation protected
Hi guys.

My name is Abdulla and I need your help to pay my university tuition fees for my offer to study Computer Software Engineering at Demontfort University - Leicester. I came to the UK from Iraq when I was 10, reacclimating into the british way of life very quickly. In 2017, I was diagnosed with Lymphoma cancer and went through an extensive chemotherapy ordeal. NHS doctors and consultants urged me to stay in the UK for as long as possible as the risk for redeveloping the cancer was very high. However I was forced to return to Iraq in 2018, which was extremely painful for me to go through, as I considered Leicester to be my home along with all the friends and family I was close with. During my time in Iraq, I have relentlessly studied 10 hours a day trying to complete the obscene curriculum which requires me to complete 7 different courses in order to apply to UK universities.

My full story:

My name is Abdulla but my friends call me Abdi. I was born in Iraq alongside my two younger brothers, and was raised in Leicester for 5 years. English quickly became my first language from a young age after quickly adapting to life in the UK. I made many friends and found lots of groups of people with similar interests as me. Being in that environment I was able to freely express myself through writing songs, which I wasn’t easily able to do in Iraq. I eventually went on to develop my hobby and release an album and multiple singles on Spotify & Apple Music.

I was originally forced to move back to Iraq in June 2017 however I was diagnosed with Lymphoma cancer right before my family were due to go back to Iraq. I was extremely thankful to be able to stay in the UK for my cancer treatment as I would have no chance of survival due to the extremely poor medical infrastructure here in Iraq.

Even though I was allowed to during my chemotherapy treatment, multiple NHS staff including my consultants themselves recommended that I stay in the UK due to a high risk of cancer recurrence.

On the 30th April 2018, halfway through my GCSE’s, I was forced to leave the UK, which really hurt me as I had considered the UK to be my home as well as Iraq not being a stable & safe country to live in for me or my little brothers, who I plan to make a better life for.

Since then I have been working extremely hard towards my studies, even though the language barrier was very significant, as my primary language had been English during my time in the UK, even when talking to family members. As well as that the curriculum is substantially harder than that in the UK, requiring me to complete 7 subjects of post-graduate standard qualifications (in Arabic, my second language) to meet the A-Level threshold required to apply to UK universities. These 7 courses meant that I was studying on average 10 hours a day.

I then got an offer for De Montfort University, Leicester studying Computer Software Engineering, since I have always had great interest in computing and constantly excelled at it back in school when I was in the UK.

The term starts in January 2022 and I urgently need help with funding in order to study back in what I see as my hometown. The course fees are £14,750 per year, however due to the pandemic, unemployment has led to my parents being left unable to afford my University funding. My savings to date amount to £4000. With your help, I will be able to cover the first year of University. Once I arrive I immediately plan to secure a job and work the full 20 hours per week allowed by a student visa. Alongside accommodation support from friends, and your support, I truly believe I can complete University and fulfill my dreams.

Any help no matter the size is forever appreciated.
