Help A War Hero Breathe

Donation protected
Dear family, friends, and Caring American Patriot,

We are needing help with an American hero!!!
Many of you know SFC. Roger Thomas and his struggles with his health and his fight daily to breathe. Roger proudly served in the US Army from 1982 to 1997.
SFC. Thomas and his wife Sandy proudly began their military career at Fort Polk, LA and were then transferred to Germany where they had 2 of their five children. Upon return to the states, they were stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY. SFC.Thomas was then deployed to Korea while Sandy remained stateside holding down the family fort. Shortly after returning from Korea, Roger was deployed to Saudi in the 101st Airborne to fight in Desert Storm from August 1990 and was truly blessed to return alive in May 1991. While there he was exposed to the fires in Kuwait when the oil wells were set fire. Upon return from Saudi, SFC. Thomas then went to Jackson, MS to train The Mississippi National Guard. Upon completion of that assignment they were moved back to Fort Polk, LA where he medically retired in July 1997. Sadly, Roger developed lung disease from exposure to those horrid fires in Kuwait. He became disabled a few years after his return from Saudi, forcing his medical retirement. He then began the battle for his VA Pension. Amazingly, he received his 100% disability the FIRST time he applied. This confirmed how ill he was and his health has severely worsened since.
He has struggled to maintain his respiratory health and also suffers from severe PTSD symptoms. They have endured many life threatening scares along the way. Sadly, he continues to deteriorate and has now been told he doesn’t have long to live. Recently, he has been blessed and has been approved for a lung transplant at The Ohio State  University.
This is where your kindness and generosity is needed. Unfortunately, he went through a civilian pulmonologist to get referred to OSU. However, because the VA didn’t make his referral, they will not pay for the aftercare that is needed nor will Medicare. Roger and Sandy will be required to stay at OSU Inpatient for 30 days post operatively, then, another 90 days in a hotel within 30 minutes of OSU for any complications that may arise. Sadly, like most, they don’t have that kind of money laying around. We are praying to raise $18,000.00 to pay for this 90 stay. The average cost of hotel per night is 120.00 to 149.00 a night plus expenses. At a time when we know all are struggling, we really struggled putting this out there. But, it has become a life and death situation.
We know the American spirit prevails and are confident our prayers will be answered with loving Americans like you! Any amount you can help with is appreciated. May God Bless
SFC. Thomas and his wife Sandy as they go through this emotional time, may God Bless you and may God Bless America.
