Help a small baby care center in Zanzibar

Donation protected
My name is Rasheed from Zanzibar Island, Tanzania. For the past 5 years, I am very fortunate to live and work in this beautiful island but compared to the mainland this place is less developed and people are living in a very hard condition and sometimes fail to meet their daily needs.

I have been engaged with charity projects to help my community, for example, in 2018 I started a platform where development actors including NGO's, government, and other stakeholders came together and assisted in educating the girls in secondary schools about reproductive health and the importance of staying in school, and the other one was in 2017 where I started demo plot where horticulture farmers are coming to learn about high improved farming methods but less-cost full like how to make organic manure using the leftovers from the farms, etc.

I have passed one of the baby care center today called Anishaz and decided to take a look inside and see how our children are living and schooling during the day time. Anishaz centre was established in 2016 as family charity to help parents who doesn't have nanny/house helpers leave their small children (from a half a year to 5 years) during the day time to go and work, and then collecting the children upon their return to their home in the evening. Parents only contribute a very little amount of money for the kids to get something to eat during the day (which is 500 Tanzania shillings, approximately quarter a dollar, not even a half dollar). Mr Abdala Ali (chairman of the centre) is the one who is paying the nanny's something to feed for the families.

The building is just someone house who decided to give to the centre and children can stay and taken care of.
1. The building is very old with no maintenance for a long time now.
2. The floor is in very poor condition with dust everywhere.
3. Children are sleeping in old mattresses with no beds at all.
4. Sleeping 5 - 6 children in 1 mattress.
5. Schooling on the floor with no chairs/desk to seat.
6. Over 50 children plus the nanny's sharing 1 toilets which has 1 hole.
7. The wall is in poor condition too, painting feds away.
8. Food utensils were not enough and put on the floor which is not safe.

All these conditions really touched my heart and decided to help the centre with 3 beds and I am coming to you all to seek assistance, fundraise and help this centre to flourish and children get the best care they should be. I believe together we can make something happen.

The funds raised will be used to:
1. Put a good floor (even tyres if possible).
2. Buy new mattresses and beds for sleeping.
3. Buy desks and other schools materials for schooling
4. To re-furnish toilets and building 2 more toilets.
5. Repaint the wall
6. Buy new food utensils and a board to put the utensils.
7. And maybe help to pay for the nanny's

I will be forever grateful to every one of you who will assist me to make a better environment for these children and help to sustain the centre. From the bottom of my heart (thank you so much). Please reach out to your friends, friends of friends, families, and anyone you think will be touched by this.

This means so much to me as beside my normal work I have dedicated my life to help back my community especially the vulnerable group, children, young mothers, youth, women and elders.
