Help a single mom of 6 who lost her home in a fire
Donation protected
Last week a friend of mine in Ecuador tragically lost her home and all of her belongings in a fire, and I am raising funds to try to give her a fresh start. She is a single mother of 6 kids who now has nothing and is staying with a relative temporarily, but her and her kids desperately need our support. Please donate whatever you can--no amount is too small. She's a very special person from a rural indigenous community near the Amazon, and I met her several years ago when I volunteered during a medical mission there. The more we can help her and her kids, the better. At some point I may be collecting clean, gently used children's clothes to mail to her (the current info I have is that it's very difficult to mail large packages to Ecuador). She has a 5 year old girl, an 18 year old girl, and three boys who are 7, 13, and 15 years old. In addition to her 5 kids, she has adopted and is taking care of a 3 year old whose parents abandoned him. She is truly a special person--please help however you can!
I've set an ambitious goal of $8,000, as this is the amount she estimated it would cost to rebuild her humble house.
More about me, the fundraiser: My name is Max Lovitz-Wolfson, and I am a professional Spanish interpreter in Philadelphia, PA. I travel to Ecuador every year to volunteer in a medical mission, which is where I first met Norma and became friends with her. When the tragic fire happened, she reached out to let me know, and asked if there was some way I could help her. 100% of the funds raised will go to Norma and her family, to pay for construction of the house (construction materials and workers), as well as basic necessities like food and clothing for her and her children. All donations will be sent to Norma's bank account directly via wire transfer (which she has confirmed have come through successfully). The local government has informed her that they will soon be able to contribute to the construction with part of the materials and some construction workers as well, so construction should begin soon.
