Hi, my name is Kayla, and I’m a single mom of two young children, Mary Jean (4) and Blakely (3). Over the past three years, I’ve been navigating a complicated family court situation on my own. Involving serious safety concerns. I have been working to protect myself and my children after experiencing domestic violence in our household, including incidents that occurred in front of the children. The situation has involved criminal history, neglect concerns, and ongoing court involvement, making this an extremely stressful and exhausting process. My priority has always been the safety, stability, and well-being of my children, and navigating this process without full legal representation has been overwhelming both financially and emotionally.I’ve already had two attorneys, which cost thousands, and due to financial hardships, I haven’t been able to hire another one to fully represent us. The costs have added up quickly—printer ink, cartridges, Office Depot receipts, notary fees, filing charges, binders, USB drives, and thousands of pages of legal documents—totaling over $1,500 so far. I’m also preparing for an important upcoming trial, which requires extensive preparation and resources. On top of that, our car is broken down and needs a new TCM and labor (over $1,500 total) to be safe and reliable. The girls need winter clothes, and I’m struggling to cover basic living expenses while trying to provide stability and security for my family. Our family has faced challenges that most people can’t imagine. I’ve had to be strong for my two young children while protecting them from difficult circumstances, which has made every day a fight to keep them safe. Despite these hardships, we continue to move forward, seeking stability, safety, and a better future.
