Help a refugee family buy a car

To comply with GoFundMe policy, I'm providing an update as following: my name is Jay Yun, and my wife and I have been residents of Carlsbad, CA, for 17 years. I have 3 children ages 21, 9 and 7. I'm originally from LA but grew up in Korea during younger years. I'm a career engineer who's currently "between jobs". We were introduced to the Al Hendi family on Oct 2017 by a couple of friends from church after we decided to "adopt" a local refugee family. Since then, we have been visiting them once a month, trying to help them improve English, buying them diapers for their baby and allowing our kids to mingle with theirs. In turn, they introduced us to some amazing Middle Eastern cuisine and hospitality. We communicate through text messages about once a week or so.
All of the money raised will be given to Jawad Al Hendi for the purpose of buying a car. The cash collected at the fundraising dinner ($910) was already given to him after the event. The online donation collected through this GoFundMe campaign will be withdrawn as a check and delivered or mailed to him.

This an online donation link associated with a dinner fundraiser we're having for the Al Hendi family (click here for the Evite invitation ), to help them buy a car. Some folks mentioned that they can't attend the dinner event but would still like to make a donation. So I'm setting this one up for their convenience.
Little bit of the background: as refugees they're able to work in the US but haven't been able to find a decent job primarily due to language challenges (which is improving). As you know, public transportation is limited in SD and often time consuming, further reducing opportunities. And without a car their children have been staying home during the summer break... They've been saving money, but far short of reaching their goal. I've been told that $4.5~5K should be the target for a decent use car; anything less and the repairs cost more in the end. We've done a fundraising for this family once in the past, but will likely need at least one more to help them get their wish come true.
