I’m helping a dear friend and their young child who are in a difficult, high-conflict situation. This parent has been the primary caregiver since the child was born — handling meals, daily care, school preparation, and emotional support — while also working full time to keep their household running.
For years, this parent has quietly endured escalating emotional and psychological mistreatment from their spouse in order to protect their child’s stability. Recent incidents have crossed serious lines and now their child is being targeted by their spouse's aggression. This has created an unsafe, unpredictable environment at home.
This parent is doing everything possible to ensure their child grows up feeling secure and supported, rather than frightened or confused by ongoing volatility. After consulting with a legal professional, it’s clear that a safe, lasting solution requires formal action through the courts — including a custody arrangement that prioritizes the child’s wellbeing.
Unfortunately, taking these steps has significant upfront costs. The legal process requires an initial retainer and preparation for court filings, parenting evaluations, and professional representation. As a single working parent who already covers nearly all household and child expenses, they simply don’t have the resources to do this alone.
The total goal is $15,000, which covers:
$5,000 initial retainer to start the process
$7,000 reserved for filings, hearings, and protective measures if needed
$3,000 for temporary child care and for relocation to a safe residence for the parent and child.
Every contribution — no matter the size — goes directly toward securing a safe, stable future for a young child who deserves peace and security.
If you are able to help, share, or even just send words of support, you are making a difference that will last a lifetime.
Thank you for reading and caring.
