I have lived in a homeless hostel for 2 years after being in and out of care, and have moved into my own flat at 19. I have been working to get by ever since, and I’m currently living in a neighbourhood where I have been hate crimed a lot.

<div>I have worked in retail and the hospitality industry for a few years but I faced racism and transphobia there, and it has taken a big toll on my mental health. For a while now, I have been taken alternative work, but it’s not very reliable. I have been working in ballroom for 10 months now and have been practicing my categories to compete in the next ball. I’m starting to make a name for myself but it’s been difficult keeping up while having such a low income. I’ve realised that the community is strong and the amazing people I’ve met have made me feel like it’s okay to ask for help, so here I am!
