Help a newly released Black man get on his feet

Donation protected
For the past 17 years, my friend Jason has been serving a sentence in Miami for mistakes he made as a young man.

During that time, he participated in programs like GED tutoring to give back to his community and completed several certifications including electrical wiring, culinary arts, water restoration, and wellness. On January 7th, 2021, he will be released!!

This country is not set up to support people released from prison. After being punished for years, upon release they’re met with little job prospects & financial support. So far, he has been unsuccessful in obtaining the $1200 pandemic relief check despite a recent lawsuit stating those incarcerated are entitled to this money.

Jason is determined to break the cycle of crime and use his experience to mentor at-risk youth. He dreams of going back to school, obtaining his BS in psychology, and becoming a counselor to prevent disadvantaged youth from falling victim to the criminal justice system the way he did.

As a formerly incarcerated Black man, he faces tremendous barriers from having zero financial security to societal stigmatization.

Please donate to Jason if you can to help him get on his feet in this vital transitional period, as he re-integrates into society and saves up to go back to college. If you're interested in corresponding with him, I'd be happy to connect you on the Jpay app.

The funds will be used for food, clothing, shelter, and a savings fund for going back to Miami Dade Community College. I recently learned Florida cut funding for transitional housing in 2015, so finding housing for Jason is a top priority.
