<div><strong>My name is Mai Lam, and I currently reside in Denver Colorado. I am living by myself taking care of my two autistic boys 24/7, and have no family members or relatives to help. I urgently appeal for your kind assistance to help me raise $50,000.00 for legal funds, so as to appeal and reopen my divorce case, and fight to regain custody of my two sons awarded to their father, because of the Judge’s misinterpretation of my testimony, and the evidence provided by myself as their mother, due to the language barrier, and my inability to pay for proper legal council.</strong>

<div><strong>I have been residing in the USA for the last four and a half years through marriage with my ex-husband on a CR-1 status (Conditional Resident). During our marriage, we had two sons together, whose current ages are 6 and 3 years old. Both of my sons were born with autism at level (3) for my 6-year old son, and level (2) for my 3-year old son. My 6-year old was born in Vietnam while my ex-husband visited me. During these four and a half years, I was taking care of my two sons needing 24/7 care.</strong>

<div><strong>I came to the U.S. through marriage under CR-1 status, and in compliance with the contract between the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). My ex-husband is required to be responsible for my financial support for up to 10 years, or until I can become a United States citizen. Therefore, I am not able to qualify for any governmental assistant programs. However, my ex-husband has not fulfilled his financial support obligation to me under his contract, and has therefore breached the contract with the USCIS.</strong>

<div><strong>My ex-husband was sending $100.00 via Zelle each month to pay for my telephone bill. But has now stopped paying for my telephone. Fortunately, a good-samaritan woman in California has helped me, who is sending me $40 per month to pay for my telephone, so that I can communicate with the outside world.</strong>

<div><strong>I have had no money to do anything, or buy anything. I have neither the money to pay for lessons to learn English, nor for driving lessons, to buy clothes, to buy necessities for personal hygiene, nor even a means to get a medical checkup, or visit a dentist for teeth cleaning, nor have any money for basic necessities which any woman needs for every month.</strong>

<div><strong>Moreover, without my knowledge, my ex-husband applied for governmental assistance on the Medicaid program for autism, solely under his name for my two sons. Thereafter, he was given a large monthly financial support from the government for my two sons, but has kept it all for himself. He rented a P.O. Box in order to receive all the incoming mails, so that I am unable to know about anything which he is secretly doing.</strong>

<div><strong>For four and a half years, I was taking care of my two sons day and night, because autistic children often stay up all night, and I have gone many days without sleep. My ex-husband was not helping me care for our sons, and was never home during the day. He is an alcoholic, and becomes extremely violent when drinking. He has beaten me up numerous times, and has often torn up the house, and thrown things around. I have called 911 four times, and the police finally arrested him, but I failed to press charges. Consequently, the district attorney’s office did not prosecute him. However, the police did help me obtain a restraining order against him, and made him leave the house. Currently, I am living at the house caring for my two sons.</strong>

<div><strong>Then on July 31, 2025, my ex-husband filed a divorce, and I had no money to pay an attorney to advocate for my interests. However, the Judge ruled on February 26, 2026 that:</strong>
</div>
<div><strong>(1) he would be awarded custody of my two sons, because he was receiving financial support for them from the governmental assistant;</strong>
</div>
<div><strong>(2) that I must move out of the house by April 30, 2026, when he is to take custody of my two sons;</strong>
</div>
<div><strong>(3) that I must pay child support of $469 monthly starting on May 1, 2026, without any job or means of income.</strong>
</div>
<div><strong>The Judge also stated that, because I do not have a car, a job, etc., I cannot retain custody of my two sons.</strong>
</div>

<div><strong>The ruling in favor of my ex-husband was horribly unjust, and based on his inaccurate or false information about their mother and her constant home-care, when applying and receiving financial assistance from the government. Because of not understanding US legal proceedings, I made several mistakes:</strong>
</div>
<div><strong>(1) I submitted evidence and videos without a certified court translation, which proved his beatings of me in front of the children, as well as throwing things around and trashing the house;</strong>
</div>
<div><strong>(2) I wrote motions in Vietnamese, but used a google translation into English to submit to the court;</strong>
</div>
<div><strong>(3) I was dealing with a language and cultural barrier during the trial;</strong>
</div>
<div><strong>(4) without legal council, I failed to understand the proper legal procedures of the court, etc.</strong>
</div>
<div><strong>For these mistakes, the Judge did not consider my evidence sufficient, who misunderstood my written motions, and as a result, issued an inaccurate and unjust ruling against me.</strong>

<div><strong>During the hearing, I was using headphones and could only hear the interpreter. I could not hear the judge or my ex-husband directly. I noticed that they were speaking at length, but the interpreter often translated only very briefly. At the time, I assumed it was just summarizing, so I did not object to my ex-husband’s statements. Because of this, I did not realize there were issues I needed to respond to. I did not make any objections during the hearing because, based on the interpretation I received, I did not understand that there was anything to object to. When I later read the court’s decision, I was shocked because it did not match what I understood from the interpretation during the hearing.</strong>

<div><strong>In summary, please know that timing is urgent. I only have until April 30, 2026 to move out of the house, and be forcibly separated from my children. Thereafter, I only have 49 days to appeal my case. I desperately need your help by any donation you may give, so that I can have an appellate family-law attorney to provide representation on my behalf, and have a court certified translator translate my documents and videos evidence to appropriately submit to the appellate court, so that the court would review this evidence, and prayerfully reverse the lower court’s ruling.</strong>

Sau đó, anh ta nhận được một khoản hỗ trợ tài chính hàng tháng rất lớn từ chính phủ cho hai con, nhưng lại giữ toàn bộ cho riêng mình. Anh ta còn thuê một hộp thư P.O.
