Help a Homeless Vet get a home

Donation protected
I’ve been homeless for the last couple of years. Living in a camper with the help of friends and family. I got myself here during a bout of depression which paralyzed me, unable to leave the apartment I was in. Rent went overdue and I was smoking inside.
My family helped me get a camper and I’ve been parked in the backyards of friends and family since.
I started my own Lawncare/ Handyman business to keep me active and it has helped keep me from hibernating inside, for the most part.
Even though I still have bad days or weeks, running my own buisness helps when I need to reschedule work due to the depression.
It also helps keep me from being fired by a regular company. Not just due to my depression holding me back but also a unique situation I found myself in a few years ago. There is a man with the same name and birthdate on the National Sex offender list. I’ve been hired and fired due to this several times. I’ve explained my situation to hiring companies and still been let go once the background check comes in. Even being different races doesn’t help. Even L.L. Bean had no problem firing me when an African American with the same name was listed on my background check. By starting this small company I hope to never be looked at as a sexual predator. You can type my name into the Illinois Sex Offender registry and see for yourself. Not me.
My small company of a truck, trailer and a couple mowers has provided me a sense of accomplishment and security I can’t find elsewhere. But I haven’t been able to succeed past buying my own food, paying a few bills and always repairing my equipment.
I’m not on the street. I’m not sleeping under bridges or shelters and there are certainly more people in more dire straights. I’m thankful everyday that my situation is much better than it could be.
The Veterans Administration is unable to help because of their low funds and the need to help those who don’t have a roof over their head or food on the table.
So I noticed Go Fund Me pages for people having surgeries, losing their homes to fire and even folks planning a trip or wedding even sailing around the world on donations from people. I figured maybe give it a shot.
I’ve overcome my embarrassment and shame asking for help. Please share this and help make it a success.
Thank you
Tim Delaney
P.S. If you need your lawn mowed or deck stained. =)
