Help a Hero – Gunned Down Because He Cared
His name is Worth – a brother, father, grandfather and friend. Worth is a hard worker, has a big heart and loves his community. Worth was gunned down the night of August 31, 2021 after helping break up a domestic dispute. He was shot 4 times in the back. He didn’t stand a chance. He was brought to the hospital in critical condition, paralyzed from the chest down. His entire future (job, medical bills, recovery) is uncertain, as it still remains to be seen if some or any of his previous mobility can be recovered through treatment, and if he will be able to return to work. This will be a long and painful road in so many ways.
On the night of August 31, 2021, Worth and his friend, Corey, were out when they came upon a domestic dispute and came to the assistance of the woman who was being harassed. Worth and Corey were able to successfully separate the man from the woman and bring the woman to her vehicle. As Worth turned to walk away, the man shot him in the back 4 times. Corey was able to prevent the perpetrator from firing additional shots as Worth was lying on the ground. The perpetrator fled the scene.
Worth and Corey didn’t hesitate one second to help a stranger. They didn’t pull out their phones and film – they pulled out their hearts and helped. A completely selfless act because they care.
Worth is a loved son and brother and is also a wonderful father and grandfather, full of life and positive energy. He works hard, enjoys life and cares greatly about the people around him. This senseless act has changed his life forever and has affected the lives of everyone who knows him and who love him for simply being the person he is.
Worth is currently in the hospital in stable condition. The bullet has not yet been removed from his spine due to concern of further damage. Worth is in a great amount of pain. Along with the bullet wounds, he has additional injuries that require treatment. All things considered he is in good spirits – he’s a strong person, a fighter. Good spirits aside, Worth has a long road to recovery. We’re asking for help to ease the financial burden that will accompany this journey, and any prayers and well-wishes for a full recovery and full mobility.
