The emotional preface: Never thought that I would be on the “go fund me” page requesting financial support for Anwar Hossain. The ever-smiling Anwar, who is always ready to help everybody else on their needs, is bedridden today, recovering from the repercussion of an open heart surgery (CABG) at UPenn hospital, and in need of support from everybody else. The ever-friendly Anwar, who almost immediately became my mentor and trainer when I first met him almost 19 years ago while working in Bangladesh.
About Anwar: Anwar lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with his wife and two beautiful kids. He is a very religious man. When his cardiologist told him that he would need a CABG immediately, he faced light and dark at the same time, light that his struggling heart has a chance of being repaired, and dark because he had no idea how to come up with the expenses. He chose to strive for a healthy life for his family.
The Costs: He has undergone a successful open heart CABG surgery on March 16 at the hospital of University of Pennsylvania. He will have a highly restricted daily lifestyle and have to undergo extensive cardiac rehab for next 3 months. To make matter worse he is completely unemployed currently. His friends, family and community people started raising money to help him cover almost $35,000 dollars in expenses, most of which is to cover doctors, hospital bills and 3 months of rehabilitation. Plus, to cover for the livelihood of his caring wife and 2 kids.
YOUR Support: We have been doing some local fund raising activities, but unfortunately not enough to make even a dent on the expenses. We always come across different GoFundMe fundraising activities. Those made us think of all of YOU.
While $35,000 can be a crushing burden for one wounded-heart unemployed and bedridden person, but when all of YOU open your kind hearts to him and extend your support, his knife-stricken heart can heal with peace and can dream of a healthy and happy life with his 2 kids.
