Help a good family to start over

I am Julio Rios, American citizen living in Norman, Oklahoma. This is what my friend wrote to me asking for help to do this for his family. I know how hard they have worked pursuing their dreams but with little to none luck; That's why I decided to do this for them. I think everyone deserves a second chance in life, especially if you are a good person who needs help to start over and don't want just to depend of the government's charity:

Hi, my name is Einar Perdomo, and I am Vanessa Essis. We have a little princess we named Gaby, who is about to be 3 years of age, and Noah, a little soccer player who is 14 months. We are raising money to have a new and fresh start as a family obligated by the harsh economic, political and social conditions of our country.

Vanessa and I are a young couple from Venezuela who decided to migrate to The United States to study English back in 2013. Both my wife and I, professionals and well-educated, made the decision to leave due to the serious political and social disturbances that our country Venezuela was going through.  Just to give you an idea of how bad the situation was, I will tell you that in 2014 the Government expropriated properties as well as corporations, retailers and family businesses without further notice or logical reasons. It was not the first time the government took such measures, but this time a lot of people seemed affected, even our family who owned a shoe store. It is so sad to remember seeing buildings, farms, electronic stores, cloth stores (just to name a few) closed or expropriated by the government. This time we understood we could no longer be in Venezuela and was time to leave. Therefore, we decided to move to USA to start a life there. This is how we ended living in Norman, Oklahoma.

Due to all the chaos that surrounded us, we decided to take all the family's savings and invest in a safe place, this time in a restaurant in the United States (Oklahoma). Our investment was around $250.000, money that was spent in new equipment, remodeling of the rented place, marketing, licenses etc. We didn’t have much luck in our first restaurant due to a bad location, but we did receive excellent reviews and since 98% of our customers loved the food we decided to relocate it in order to be more profitable.

In 2015, we decided to move our business to Campus Corner, located in the college town of the University of Oklahoma. Since we needed a fresh and different concept for a different crowd, we invest around $ 45,000 more to update and improve the new rented space, including the electrical system, ventilation hood, plumbing, marketing, etc. In addition, to make our dream possible, we got a Loan from Bank First for $35K to be able to re-open and run our restaurant.

The first and second quarter the restaurant was doing great and was well received in the community, however, a severe economic recession in the Oklahoma State, coming from Oil companies’ lower activity, started to affect every single business, especially small ones. In consequence, we ended 2015 in serious financial troubles!

Although we found a way to stay in business throughout 2016 and the first and second quarter of 2017, the activity began to decrease severely to the point that during the third and fourth quarter of 2017, it simply was not feasible for us keep the restaurant open. The sales decreased more than 90%, way below the break point, so we could no longer honor our debts, rent and taxes. Believe me when I tell you that we tried and tried to keep our heads above water, but it was simply impossible! On December 30th 2017, we closed the doors to the public to figure out what we could do in order to save our American Dream; however, the landlord locked the doors leaving us outside and it was the end of our business.

On top of losing all of our money to the restaurant, my mother in law is severely ill with pneumonia and we have no money to cover the hospital fees.

We understand life can be hard at times, but believe me when I say that we are desperate and need a friend’s hand to begin all over again with our two little angels.

For all these reasons, my family and I are asking for your financial aid to help us cover our biggest concern: the money to cover the hospital bills, the U.S. taxes and the business loans.

These are our debts:

$12K in Federal and State taxes
$13K in medical fees that the insurance does not cover
$5K Credit Card expenses

We want to thank everyone for your incredible support for this beautiful family that has lost everything in pursuit of the American dream and has nothing to start over.

Thanks again and God bless you all!
