Hi, my name is Alexia, and I’m a Romanian international student studying biology on the pre-med track in the United States. My dream is to become an oncologist who serves under-resourced communities with compassion and care.
I’m deeply committed to both science and service. On campus, I work part-time as a lab prep assistant, help organize blood drives through our university’s blood initiative (I even donated blood last month!), and recently joined AED, the national biology honor society. Academically, I’ve performed at a high level with a near-perfect GPA and have recently secured a rare opportunity of shadowing a neurosurgeon at Stanford.
Despite three merit scholarships totaling $36,500 a year and my part-time job, I’m still facing a significant funding gap this year. The anticipated cost of attending school as an international student next year is $75,000. My family is no longer in a financial position to help, and international students like me have very limited access to federal aid or off-campus work opportunities.
Your support will help cover the remainder of my tuition and allow me to stay in school, continue my academic journey, and one day give back as a physician. Every contribution helps—and I’m incredibly grateful for your encouragement.
