<div>My name is Xavier. On October 18, 2023, my brother Selwyn, a loving father of six children, became the victim of a robbery at a motel room in Roxbury, NJ. This crime was committed by two individuals using a high-powered assault rifle. During the robbery my brother consented and gave these assailants all they wanted but was still put in a position where he feared for his life. Believing he was about to be murdered with no way out, he had only his children in mind when he decided to fight back against these criminals. During the struggle for the rifle, which ended on the floor, he was shot in the knee resulting in a catastrophic injury which left him unable to walk or feel anything below the knee of his right leg.

<div>He was taken to Morristown Medical Center where the doctors were able to stop the bleeding and even helped bring blood flow back to the injured leg by removing a vein from his left leg and attaching it to his right one. However, he was left with intense and excruciating pain and the inability to feel anything below the right knee, with a gaping hole which caused a fever because of a growing infection.

<div>Sadly, and tragically, because of the injury that left complete and irreparable skin, nerve, muscle and bone damage, his right leg above the knee had to be amputated on October 26th, 2023. We are devastated by the loss and suffering this has caused him, his children and family.

<div>Selwyn is 36 years old and has the rest of his life to make a difference for himself and his children, which range in ages 16, 15, 14, 10, 9 and 8 years old including his family, friends and all those that know him or will know him in the future.
</div>

<div>Mi nombre es Javier. El 18 de octubre de 2023, mi hermano Selwyn, un amoroso padre de seis hijos, fue víctima de un robo en una habitación de motel en Roxbury, Nueva Jersey.
