Repair Team Up Cancer Vehicle

Team Up Cancer has been an on-the-road effort with cancer survivor Rico Dence traveling across the country, living in his car, while helping cancer patients and petitioning for government change to fight cancer. Now with his car needing repair, he has turned to GoFundMe for help to continue his work.

It’s a rare family that isn’t touched by cancer at one point or another.  While never a good experience, for those who are financially challenged it can be absolutely devastating.  Cancer survivor Rico Dence has experienced this himself by living with a treatable cancer.  He swore he was going to do his best to help those in need.  Founding Team Up Cancer, Rico basically lived in a car while driving across the country lobbying every politician he could access to, in an effort to get laws changed to help, while also meeting with those in the battle against cancer themselves to give his encouragement and other help, when possible.  Unfortunately, all of this driving has seen the Team Up Cancer car’s transmission need replacement, both stopping Rico in his tracks and disabling the place he was sleeping most nights.  Knowing how important his work is Rico recently announced the launch of The Rico Defense Fund Crowdfunding Campaign to raise the $2857 needed to repair the car and get the dynamic work of Team Up Cancer moving forward again.

“This work is very important, it really is not something that I am aware of anyone doing nationwide face-to-face,” commented Rico.  “Once the transmission is repaired.  I am so motivated I predict we exceed our already high-level of success.  Thank you to everyone willing to help large or small. You can change a cancer patient’s life in a very real way.”

According to Team Up Cancer, so far Rico has contacted over 853 government legislators and met with 89 of them with mostly positive feedback; his work has led to four laws being passed across multiple states; and just in the first half of 2019 Rico’s work has resulted in ten bills to help cancer patients being introduced in eight states.
