Hello, my name is Sonia. My friend Christel and I are asking for your support for a beloved tour guide in Nepal, Deu, and his wife, Chandra Kumari, who are going through an incredibly tough time.
Deu has been an outstanding guide in Nepal, providing warm hospitality and sharing his culture with kindness during my travels. Unfortunately, Deu's wife, Chandra Kumari, is battling several health issues, including high sugar levels (diabetes), depression, and the aftermath of a recent gallstone surgery (cholelithiasis).
The surgery alone cost them a staggering 160,000 Nepalese Rupees, and since Deu has struggled to find consistent work during the past season, they’ve borrowed money to cover the medical costs. Chandra Kumari’s ongoing treatment for both her depression and diabetes has created further financial strain. Her monthly medication expenses are around 4,000 Nepalese Rupees for diabetes and 6,000 Nepalese Rupees for antidepressants—money they don’t have readily available.
As you may know, Nepal is a developing country with a healthcare system that can be very expensive. Independent tour guides, like Deu, typically earn a modest income based on seasonal work, with a lot of guides relying on tips and client bookings to support their families. During off-peak seasons, jobs can be scarce, and the financial strain can be overwhelming.
We have witnessed first-hand the generosity and kindness that Deu and his family have shown, and we want to help them during this difficult period. We are aiming to raise £2,000 GBP to help cover the costs of their medications and medical bills, which will go directly to Deu’s account in Pokhara, where they live.
Your donations will provide much-needed relief for this amazing family during a time of hardship.
Any amount, no matter how small, will make a significant difference. Thank you so much for your kindness and support.
With love,
Sonia & Christel ❤️
