<div>Yesterday, I was driving when I saw an elderly woman crossing the street very slowly on an old walker under the Miami heat. I turned back and found her at the bus stop! She was on her way to do errands, so I offered a ride. Her name is Lilian and we became instant friends. Despite being 97, she is very savvy. When I bought her a meal, she was so worried saying she couldn't afford it. I told her it was a gift!

<div>She told me she lives off social security checks and doesn't have anyone local to support her. Most of her money goes to rent, so she can't afford a lot.

<div>I know I was meant to meet Lilian. She is from León, Nicaragua, which is the same city where my dad (who died) was born.
