A Daughter's Plea

Donation protected

My mom is a wonderful woman; her name is Yolanda Gonzalez. My family and friends call her “Yoly”. She is constantly doing her best to be a great example to my big brother, my little sister, and me. My mom has taught the three of us to always do what’s right. She is one of the most compassionate, giving, and loving people I know. She loves to spend time with all our family and friends. She believes in helping people who are facing challenges in their own lives. It is so difficult for me to put into words what an amazing person my mom, Yoly, is. She means the absolute world to my family and me.

I will never forget, April 29, 2014, my world came to a halt when my dad took her to the hospital with severe pains in her stomach. The next day, she was having an emergency surgery. I was away in school - little did I know that when the doctors came out of the surgery they would utter the words “malignant tumor”. I thought to myself that is something you hear about someone else or even in a sad movie, but not in my life. It wasn’t a bad dream. It was our reality. She was diagnosed with Stage III Colon Cancer. I kept asking myself, “Why?” She had recently lost and grieved her father, my grandfather, to the same aggressive colon cancer. And then just when I was trying to put everything into perspective less than two months later on June 23rd more devastating news; the cancer had spread to her liver. Now I had to live with the diagnosis: Stage IV Colon Cancer. Ever since my mom was diagnosed back in April she committed herself to a very strict diet. She only eats very specific organic foods. In addition, she is undergoing various treatments that are very costly. Her time is so precious right now - the days, weeks, and months are going by so fast. She needs more aggressive treatment that we cannot afford. My dad has always worked very hard to provide for our family, but with the strain and stress of my mom’s illness he had no choice but to close his shop. The medical bills are really piling up and there are still so many more treatments and medications that she needs urgently to help her fight this battle against Cancer.

I beg of you to think of your own mom when you think of mine! Your donations will help her receive the treatments she needs immediately and will also allow my dad to be by her side as long as it takes. She  has an immense amount of faith in God. If you could hear her talking about how God will heal her, you would believe. This has made her strong throughout this difficult journey. This is the most challenging situation my family and I have ever been confronted with. I urge you to please pray for her and our family.

No donation is too small…for those who are unable to donate, but would still like to help, PLEASE share and tag all your friends.

Thank you and God Bless You!
