<div>I am writing to request support for my incredible mom, Thilakavathy Soundararajan. She is the person who has my heart and the one who taught me how to be a leader who leads with love. She is the anchor and foundation for our family's commitment to caste equity, providing guidance, love, and nurturing to countless leaders in the movement. She is often the first parent involved in early caste equity efforts, and has hosted and supported hundreds of activists over her lifetime. My dear mother has provided a ready shoulder for many to cry on, offered generous and wise advice for those that have needed guidance, and provided love and nurturing to so many. She is a living example of community care in practice and a guiding light for so many in our communities. For most of her life as a mother, a social worker, and healer she has shared from a community centered spirit of generosity and radical deep care. That is why in this difficult moment we are reaching out for help.

<div>During COVID, my mom's kidney disease worsened, leading to kidney failure. Now on dialysis, my mother who was once an unstoppable ball of energy struggles with basic tasks and endures severe constant pain. Due to complications from dialysis she now must confront the challenges of a below the knee amputation to save her life.

<div>As we build a care plan to support her and explore all options to keep her alive with dignity, our out of pocket financial needs have skyrocketed. In the spirit of community care that has existed for centuries in our lineages we are requesting support for our go fund me that would go to her many needs including:

<div>Our family is usually very private about our challenges but the overwhelming burden and financial pressure of having to care for her during this period has been too much. With community support from a network of people supporting our family, we hope to raise $100,000 USD to cover our expenses during this time.

<div>These costs will help our family support my mother, and extend the care for her life. We know it will be a difficult journey but we are willing to do whatever it takes to keep her alive with dignity, healing on her own terms. This funding will go towards keeping my mother alive with services and support, while we fight to find options for extending her life.
