Emergency trip to Costa Rica

Help me help my brother Odell [Pete] Porter!
I am creating this Go Fund Me to help mitigate the cost of my unexpected trip to San Jose, Costa Rica to assist my brother, Pete, in his recovery from an acute stroke. I need money right away for - an expedited passport, a plane ticket, a place to stay, food, and any other unexpected costs.
My goal is to raise $3000, get my passport and to fly out of Atlanta this Friday afternoon.

Days before now
On Saturday, September 7, 2013, my oldest brother Pete had an acute stroke. I got the call at 10pm. A hospital called me from Guanacosta, Costa Rica to tell me Pete, was in the hospital; that he had had a stroke and it is very serious. Before the doctor finished telling me all the details, my mind was already racing to figure out how I was going to get to San Jose, Costa Rica to be there for my big brother who suffered a stroke all alone in a foreign country with no family.
The logical part of me was calm so I could hear but the emotional part of me was really freaking out - my big brother is extremely sick and he needs help - my help.
Living his dream.....
Pete has worked hard all his life. He is a Veteran of the Vietnam war serving 2 terms. He was an NYC policeman for nearly 20 years. After a near fatal accident, he recovered, retired and headed to Florida. But Pete's big dream was to live in the tropics. He had been talking for a while about going to Costa Rica but like a lot of our dreams, he was waylaid by life on many different levels. When the Universe presented another opportunity for him to go, he took it. For the past year and four months, he has been living his dream - retired on a tropical island. Well, Costa Rica is not an island, but it is very beautiful and tropical.
A New Reality.....
Life was good and even great for Pete as he made new friends, created a new life, and enjoyed eating fruit from the trees. Then Saturday, September 7 happened. While at this writing I am still unclear of all of the precipitating events, what I have been told is on this Saturday, life for my so beloved brother changed drastically. Sometime during the day, he had an acute stroke. Someone in the area where he lives found him on the street disoriented and eventually fallen on the street unconscious. Fortunately, this Angel called for the medical emergency to come. Pete was rushed to the Guanacaste hospital where the doctors began treating him. Limited in their ability to treat Pete, the hospital transported him to their main hospital in San Jose. Pete's dream quickly became a frightening nightmare.
Every little bit counts.....
Please help me get to San Jose, Costa Rica so I can care for Pete and help him continue to live his dream. Whatever you contribute, I and Pete will be most grateful.
