Layla Needs Surgery!

Tax deductible
Layla is a sweet and affectionate 5-year-old terrier mix in need of surgery on her leg to help alleviate pain that is is robbing her of her ability to walk.

Our rescue, Forgotten Tails Rescue, Inc. a nonprofit animal rescue in Central Florida, rescued Layla with severe pneumonia.  After two months of treatment and recovery Layla appeared to be ready for adoption. But then Layla began to limp.

Layla's limp worsened over a period of days.  Layla's vet discovered she has a birth defect that caused a condition in which cartilage did not form on the femoral head in her right leg. Over time severe calcifications has formed causing pain and discomfort. Layla's limp and pain has increased greatly over the past few weeks.

To alleviate Layla's suffering she needs a procedure called Femoral Head Osteotomy or FHO to remove the top portion of her femur bone.  Fortunately, this procedure is commonly performed, and Layla's vet believes she would make a full recovery, meaning she would be able to walk without pain.

We are performing range of motion exercises with her to help her strengthen her muscles to keep the femur bone in place after surgery.

We need to raise the monies quickly so that Layla can have the procedure done as soon as possible.  Please help Layla get her surgery by making a donation today!

Thank you in advance for your support!
