For Geraldine Cole-Brain tumor sucks!

Donation protected
Hello. My name is Cynthia. I am Geraldine's aunt. Recently, my niece was diagnosed with Meningioma. Meningioma is known as a curable tumor of the brain. Although it is curable, the location of the tumor puts my niece at risk of stroke like symptoms such as constant weakness and seizures, which can ultimately lead to incidents that can cause severely impaired motor skills making her high risk for falls.

When she was diagnosed in April 2013, her daily routine became affected. She began falling at random times, so she went to a neurosurgeon to find out the problem. The neurosurgeon said that she would have to get her tumor removed within 6 months of her diagnosis or she would begin experiencing the side effects previously stated. To add on to this newfound problem, a few weeks ago my niece's doctor informed her that she also had atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat) which only increases the risk for stroke. She had an echocardiogram done and showed that she has a mild tricuspid valve leak. Her cardiologist assured her that she should not worry about this since her heart function is normal. Whatever that means. 8)

With these health issues being problem enough, her other problem lies in the fact that she had purchased a house about 3 months prior to her diagnosis. Currently, my niece has to work two jobs to even make ends meet.

She has been having increased headaches and gets exhausted easily. My niece plans to have her surgery in August 2013 before her symptoms gets worse. This will require AT LEAST 2 months of recovery time. Because of this, she will be unable to work and lose income. As for her medical insurance, she is worried that although she does have medical insurance she will still have to pay her deductible, medicines, rehab, possible radiation if the tumor can't be totally removed, medical equipment (just in case) and further tests. As a nurse, she's aware of the upcoming costs of her procedure. There is also a great risk of my niece not being able to pay her mortgage if she will be unable to recover fully within 2 months.

Because there is so much at risk, she is overworking herself so she can finish as much work as she can while still physically and mentally capable.

Yes, there are worse cases than this one, but this is very important to me. I love my niece very much and I want to help her to the best of my abilities. She has been always very generous to her family and friends.

She does not want to bother anyone. I have known her to be a very strong person. She needs help. This is my chance to return her generosity. I truly have no way of doing this on my own so your monetary help is much appreciated. My goal is to have $16, 000 for her surgery. Anything helps.

Thank you,

Cynthia
