Hello everyone, I'd like to share a fundraiser for a wonderful family, Rosie and Siupeli, along with their three lovely daughters. They are currently facing an unimaginable challenge as their middle child,Vai(4 years old), has been diagnosed with Stage 4 retinoblastoma, a rare and serious cancer. Your support can make a meaningful difference in their difficult journey. The journey began on January 25, 2023, when the family received the distressing news that Vai had lost complete vision in one eye due to elevated pressure. Initially, the medical professionals suspected glaucoma as the culprit, attributed to the high pressure and a hemorrhage from a ruptured blood vessel. During this period, the medical team primarily focused on addressing the elevated pressure, and Vai was prescribed a regimen of eye drops to manage the condition. In response to their parental instincts, Rosie and Siupeli proactively pressed for more m answers. Vai's recurrent hospital visits and her enduring agony, which hindered her ability to sleep, drove them to demand more information from health professionals. Despite this trying situation, the medical team recommended over-the-counter pain relievers like Panadol and Neurofen to alleviate Vai's pain and enhance her comfort. After feeling what seemed to be numerous hopsital admissions and questions being unanswered both Mum and Dad demanded a MRI to be completed, although staffs advice was this wouldn’t show anything, Rosie & Peli were persistent in this being completed. August 11,2023 is the day the Hifo family got the devastating news and results from the MRI which showed a tumour behind Vai’s eye which had already spread down her optic nerve to her brain. She was then diagnosed with high risk stage 4 retinoblastoma which is a rare type of cancer that rapidly develops in the back of the eye of young people. The update so far is that there is a layer of tumour around her brain as well and it may also be in her spine. Almost immediately Vai started chemotherapy and radiation to try and beat this aggressive cancer. Due to the being so uncomfortable and side effects from chemo Vai finds it difficult to eat, is in constant pain and has lost all of her hair. Although for such a young girl she is currently fighting such a battle, she’s such a fighter and continues to stay positive through this whole ordeal. Vai continues to pray to god for healing, shows great-fullness and enjoys when she is able to have visits from her family including her two siblings. Due to vais 24/7 hospital care needed this has put a lot of pressure on this beautiful family. This is a time where both Mum and dad should be able to be next to their baby’s side the entire time, and not having to stress about going to work, worrying about keeping a roof over their head, hospital parking, daycare fees, Before & afterschool care, groceries and all other expenses which shouldn’t be an extra worry for this family when they are already doing it difficult enough. Time is precious and time is everything, I’m asking for your help in this difficult time too eleviate some of the pressures of financial stress and ensure they are able to both able to be by their baby’s side at this difficult time instead of having to work just to get by. This family is the most generous, caring and loving family who have given back to their community and loved ones so much in the past, that I now beg you to get behind them and wrap our arms around them and give them the support, they would give to anyone of us in this same situation in a heart beat! I thank each and everyone of you who are able to contribute to vais fund. When I first approached Rosie about the possibility of starting a GoFundMe for her family, she initially expressed hesitation. Her primary concern and focus were centered on raising awareness about advocating for what is just within the medical system. Rosie's heartfelt intention was to prevent other parents from enduring the same challenges they faced, highlighting her selfless commitment to a broader cause. Their reluctance to have a GoFundMe page on their behalf is indicative of their selflessness and reluctance to burden others with their needs or circumstances. We appreciate anything you are able to donate and may god bless each and everyone of you! If your not in the position to donate, please continue to keep our Vai, our beautiful girl in your prayers. We appreciate you all so much ❤️️
