Hello, my name is Sensei James Walker of Resilient Martial Arts, formerly James Walker's Bushido Academy. We having been serving our community since 1998, unfortunately we may not be able to continue with a very successful community program we have had for almost three years now. Many of you may know that funding for smaller local nonprofits is becoming increasingly more difficult to attain. A lot of the local organizations we have partnered with in the past have disappeared or been forced to cut way back on the programs they offer. Resilient Martial Arts provides significant discounts for the participants of these programs. Currently, we are seeking funding for 37 students who's programs funding expires at the end of this year. To serve 37 students, it will cost approximately $5,000 monthly for tuition and equipment. This is why we are seeking $100,00 to be able to provide another year of training. Though I discount their program almost 50%, these students families will not be able to continue with out help from gracious people, organizations and corporations such as yourselves. I personally scholarship many students from my own pocket now and since we have been opened in 1998. Some of these may be coming from single parent households, their parents have taken ill, lost their jobs, or fallen on financial hardships. One example was a young man who's father passed during the night while sleeping. We placed him on a full scholarship allowing him to keep his promise to his father of attaining Black Belt. I have 100's of more stories like this I could share. I don't tell you about these for any glory but as an example of what we do. Many of these kids given the choice and direction chose a positive path instead of becoming another statistic in the system. These young men and women participate in our community service events paying it back to the community that supports them. They go on to become outstanding members of their community. Many go on to attain High level educational degrees, open their own business, or serve our country. 

Any amount you can give will make a huge impact in their lives. I hope you can find it in your heart to assist us in this on going endeavor of serving our community and builder tomorrow's leaders.

Hola, mi nombre es Sensei James Walker, de Resilient Martial Arts, anteriormente James Walker's Bushido Academy. Hemos estado sirviendo a nuestra comunidad desde 1998, pero lamentablemente no podremos continuar con un programa comunitario muy exitoso que hemos tenido durante casi tres años. 
 
Muchos de ustedes saben que la financiación para pequeñas organizaciones locales, sin fines de lucro, es cada vez más difícil de obtener. Muchas de las organizaciones locales con las que nos hemos asociado en el pasado han desaparecido o se han visto obligadas a reducir drásticamente los programas que ofrecen. Resilient Martial Arts ofrece importantes descuentos para los participantes de estos programas. Actualmente, estamos buscando financiación para 37 estudiantes cuyo fondo expira a fines de este año. Para continuar sirviendo a estos 37 estudiantes, costará aproximadamente $5,000 mensuales en matrícula y equipo. Es por eso que estamos buscando $100,000 para poder brindar otro año de capacitación. Aunque nosotros descontamos este programa por casi el 50%, las familias de estos estudiantes no podrán continuar sin la ayuda de personas, organizaciones y corporaciones generosas como ustedes. 
 
Personalmente, beco a muchos estudiantes de mi propio bolsillo ahora, y desde que abrimos en 1998. Algunos de ellos pueden provenir de hogares con un solo padre/madre, otros sus padres se han enfermado, han perdido sus trabajos o han atravesado dificultades económicas. Un ejemplo fue el de un joven cuyo padre falleció durante la noche mientras dormía. Le otorgamos una beca completa que le permitió cumplir la promesa que le hizo a su padre de alcanzar el cinturón negro. Tengo cientos de historias más como esta que podría compartir. No les cuento estas para obtener gloria, sino como un ejemplo de lo que hacemos. Muchos de estos niños, al darle la elección, y después la dirección que se les dio, eligieron un camino positivo en lugar de convertirse en otra estadística del sistema. Estos jóvenes, hombres y mujeres, participan en nuestros eventos de servicio comunitario y devuelven el favor a la comunidad que los apoya. Luego, se convierten en miembros destacados de su comunidad. Muchos obtienen títulos educativos de alto nivel, abren su propio negocio o sirven a nuestro país. 
 
Cualquier cantidad que usted pueda donar tendrá un gran impacto en las vidas de los niños. Espero que encuentre en su corazón la voluntad de ayudarnos en este esfuerzo continuo de servir a nuestra comunidad y formar a los líderes del mañana.
