Hi, my name is Mayfelle B. Toledo, I’m 28 years old and currently living in Baroy, Lanao del Norte, Philippines.
I never imagined that at just 28, after finishing my studies and working hard to build a future for my child, I would be facing something this difficult. I graduated with a degree in Financial Management and recently passed the Civil Service Examination—but just as I was beginning to pursue job opportunities, I was diagnosed with a rare and life-altering illness that changed everything.
In April 2024, I was diagnosed with Neurofibroma after a tumor was discovered in the peripheral nerve sheath of my right leg through MRI. The tumor was removed in May 2024, but the surgery left me with foot drop, making it hard for me to walk. I became a person with disability and began physical therapy, hoping to regain mobility.
By November 2024, I began experiencing pain in my right buttock. After a follow-up MRI due to visible deformity and persistent pain, another tumor was discovered—this time deeper and more severe. I was diagnosed with a Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor (MPNST), Intrapelvic—a rare, aggressive, and painful tumor that is now affecting my nerves, bones, and daily functioning.
Because of the tumor’s location and complexity, no surgical specialists in the Philippines are able to treat it. I’ve been advised to undergo chemotherapy to stop or slow its growth. As of now, I am bedridden, and every day is a struggle physically, emotionally, and financially.
I am also a solo parent, and everything I do is for the sake of my child. But I cannot do this alone. I am humbly asking for your help. Your donations will help support:
• Chemotherapy sessions
• Pain medications and maintenance treatment
• Physical therapy
• Medical imaging, tests, and doctor consultations
• Hospital stays and daily care expenses
Any amount, big or small, means the world to me. If you are unable to give, please help by sharing my story.
For those in the Philippines:
GoFundMe may not always work for local donations. If you’d prefer, you can send your support directly via bank transfer or Gcash. You can find the details on this post.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your prayers, generosity, and kindness. You are giving me strength and hope to keep fighting.
With love and gratitude,
Mayfelle B. Toledo
