1919 Media Gives Back: Helping Families Facing Unprecedented Food Insecurity
Our hearts are heavy. Over the past week, 1919 Media Company has received an unprecedented number of messages from families in need — more than one hundred requests for food and financial assistance from Houston and Chicago alone.
Despite our private donations, the need continues to swell. We must do more, and we’re asking others to join us.
As a small production company whose stories reflect the complexity and resilience of our community, we weren’t prepared for this overwhelming outpouring of requests. Our focus has always been on the creative and business side of storytelling — not realizing how naturally people would turn to us, beyond the screen, in search of tangible help and hope.
That’s why we’re launching 1919 Media Gives, an emergency relief initiative providing food assistance and essential support to families facing extreme hardship due to SNAP benefit delays and rising food costs.
Your donation will go directly toward:
Grocery boxes and gift cards for families experiencing food insecurity
Emergency assistance for those with immediate needs
⚙️ Basic support and coordination to ensure funds are distributed fairly, transparently, and efficiently
While we are not a 501(c)(3) organization and donations are not tax-deductible, every dollar raised will go directly to families in need.
Attorney Dionne Roberts-Emegha (CEO) and the Roberts-Emegha family respectfully ask that you give, whether directly to your own friends and neighbors, or through community efforts like ours that can help mobilize larger-scale relief.
Together, we can ensure our communities remain strong, cared for, and fed — both physically and spiritually.
