On June 23, my family’s world was turned upside down. My 12-year-old little brother was severely injured when a firework exploded in his hand. In an instant, he lost most of the fingers on his right hand—his dominant hand. The injuries were so severe that he had to be airlifted by helicopter to the hospital, where doctors rushed him into surgery.
He spent the next two weeks in the hospital, undergoing multiple surgeries in an effort to save what they could and begin the long road to recovery.
We are grateful that he is still with us, but his life has been forever changed. Losing most of his dominant hand at just 12 years old means he will have to relearn how to do even the simplest daily tasks. It also means a lifetime of adaptation, therapy, and incredible strength.
Right now, we do not know the full cost of his medical care. But with a two-week hospital stay, several complex surgeries, a helicopter transport, and the long recovery ahead—including physical therapy, prosthetic fittings, and follow-up care—we expect the bills to be overwhelming. We also anticipate ongoing expenses as he adapts to his new normal.
I’m starting this fundraiser to help cover:
• Medical bills from the hospital, surgeries, and helicopter transport
• Ongoing physical therapy and rehabilitation
• Necessary adaptive devices
We are setting our goal based on what similar injuries can cost without full insurance coverage. Any amount you can give will help ease this burden and allow my brother to focus on healing instead of medical debt.
If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this page so more people can hear his story. From the bottom of my heart—thank you for your prayers, your kindness, and your generosity during this unimaginably difficult time.
