Help 10yr old Taylah Bonnett diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, purchase life changing medical equipment.
As some of you may know on the 12th January 2018, our lives went from being quite cool and calm to turned upside down in 24hrs.
Taylah had been unwell so I made the decision to take her to the Dr for a check up, not knowing that within the next 5hrs following we would be in an ambulance being transferred to Princess Margaret Hospital, the following day to be diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes!!.
After spending 7 long days in PMH, we were discharged with a head overflowing with information, file full of paperwork, monitors, needles, insulin pens, test strips you name it we got it and A WHOLE NEW LIFE AHEAD OF US.
As she is now insulin dependant its 4 injections per day and upto 8+ finger pricks per day, (these finger pricks are done every 3hrs / 24hrs a day) this will be the case for the rest of her life. Everyone who knows Taylah can vouch for her being a kind, funny (sometimes grumpy) and friendly girl, who always finds the best in people and is loved by many.
Our ultimate goal is to eliminate injections and finger pricking (95% anyway) and purchase Taylah an insulin pump. These pumps take approx 6-8 months on order at a huge cost of $9500 (plus costs for initial setup and ongoing supplies).
We have already had some amazing people open up their hearts and stand up and say they will help without a doubt.
We aim to allow Taylah to live as normal life as possible and to purchase this life changing equipment.
