At 42, I am entering my second journey through cancer diagnosis and treatment. I have made a committment to share my experiences; in a blog, to be honest and forthcoming, to the best of my ability.
A huge part of the medicine in this journey for me, is asking for help. It is not something that comes easily to me, and I do not do so lightly.
The truth is that being sick is expensive. Cancer comes at a great cost, and worrying about finances is a big part of that. What should seemingly be the last worry of the journey, weighs heavily, and leaks energy that should otherwise be focused on healing.
So in knowing that I will need help, and with the encouragement of some incredibly beautiful and supportive friends, here I am, asking for it.
