Helicopter Nick's Cancer Fundraiser

Hi. In February 2022, I was diagnosed with an aggressive Stage III/IV bladder tumor. Treatment includes surgery (now brought forward to the week of 16 May 2022), requiring 7-10 days hospitalization, pre-surgery lab and anesthesiology services, and post-surgery monitoring and potential chemo/radiotherapy.

 

Unfortunately, I have no health cover to pay for this. The Andalucia health service is invoicing me directly. I won’t receive any pension till I’m 67 (I’m now 63) and I can’t work - the whole thing dominates my every waking hour and has severely weakened me. I lost 15-20 kilos after heavy internal bleeding leading to severe anemia caused by the tumor. I’m struggling to regain that weight (I’m advised I’ll need to regain strength because the surgery will be very invasive). Furthermore, the tumor has disrupted my right kidney function.

 

So I’m stuck. I’m mortified to ask for help, and I know this is probably my own doing. I wish I could think of another way to deal with this, but I can’t. The reality is, I have an advanced cancer and no way to pay for treatment. I am, therefore, humbly asking for anything anyone can afford to donate. I will be indescribably grateful for anything at all.

Just by way of explanation, I have no idea what the final cost will be. I have set 5000 Euros to begin with but I'm fairly sure treatment is going to cost more than that. I may therefore raise the target occasionally as I know more.
