Helen's End of Life Care
Donation protected
On May 14th, 2019 my aunt Helen was admitted to Fairview hospital for severe stomach pains. Over the past five months Helen has received treatment for open wounds, blood infections, and pancreatitis among many other ailments. Last week, after dozens of biopsies and 8 surgeries, Helen traveled to Mayo in Rochester to finally get answers. Mayo diagnosed her with stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer, giving her 4-10 months to live. Doctors are unsure if she is able to receive treatment as the Cancer has begun to spread to other organs. Our goal as a family is to make her as comfortable as possible over the next few months.
Helen has been out of work since May and she no longer has insurance coverage. She is currently at home, cuddled up with Dr. Bunny (the stuffed animal she gave me as a child to make me feel better when I was sick). Our family is doing all we can to support her, but unfortunately we need help covering living costs and medical bills in her final months. We want to care for her in the way she has always done for others and we appreciate any support we can get.
