Helen Meki & her battle with breast cancer

If you live in Newcastle chances are you might already know Helen! She owns Gypsy Hunters located at 705 Hunter Street, Newcastle. She also owns Cyprus Kitchen Catering & Events. When she is not grinding it out at the markets along side us in her marquee or working at Gypsy Hunters she is busy with her 5 children under the age of 17. You get it – Helen is a little go getter. In all the years we’ve known her - we’ve never seen her without a smile on her face. Never! And if you’ve ever worked a market you will know this is no easy feat!
2020 has been a hard year for most people in business including Helen. Covid has had a massive impact on her businesses . With all markets cancelled Helen has lost a major portion of her income. If that wasn’t enough - Helen has been diagnosed with stage 3 HER2-positive breast cancer.
Whilst undergoing cancer treatment Helen contacted us to ask if we thought setting up a coffee cart out the back of 701 Hunter Street was a good idea. She was trying to make some money before Christmas for her 5 young children.
We want to make sure Helen has the best Christmas with her family and we don't want Helen to be worrying about finances whilst having her treatment. And we are calling on you guys to help us make this happen.
