Helen (and Sharon) could use some help from our friends

Story

Ok, so this is a tough one for me for a few reasons. 1. I have never asked for help for myself, only for others. 2. This whole situation with this poor pup has almost drained me emotionally. I’ve never seen an animal, in person, having had this much neglect. So here we go……. Helens Story Meet Helen (her new name to get her off to a stellar, new, loving start). Helen was removed from her owner for serious neglect (unfortunately, he was unable to care for himself or her). There weren’t a lot of people raising their hands to foster her so home to me she came. With the help of a few friends she went immediately to the vet who informed us that she was severely malnourished and had horrible tooth decay (happy to provide photos, of her poor toofs, but I feel they are too graphic just to pop on here). The cost to take care of her teeth would be around $3000. We were lucky to get her into the BMHS (where she was originally adopted) and Dr. Rice said she is the perfect candidate for dental surgery. Helen went in the next day and unfortunately, not one tooth could be saved (Dr Rice said some fell out with just a tap). The best news about this is the total out of pocket cost for this was not $3,000 but thanks to BMHS and the vet clinic, we’re out the door for $1200. As you know I have always done what I can to help animals here and in Mexico and it I have never had a problem covering the cost. This time is a little different as I have decided to keep this amazing toothless dog and make sure she has the best life ever (yes, I’ve already purchased a doggie crossbody bag and a car seat – I’ve become the person I always said I’d never be :). She is going to have ongoing costs due to her neglect and well, she’s toothless which will require care that I will happily take on. I’m asking for your help. Any amount over and above will be donated directly to BMHS. My promise to you Helen, is you will never go without food, water or shelter ever again. You will be loved unconditionally, go for rides in the car (and probably to some soccer tourneys), get carried around in the coziest bag I could find and have a smile on that cute toothless face every day. Thank you so much in advance for any help you can offer. Pic one was 6/25/2025 when she came to me - the others are post surgery and a little weight gain :). Sharon
