Heidi was a happy, independent young lady until a few months ago when a seizure disorder emerged and changed her life.
Although medicines are helping some, the fact remains that Heidi's independence has vanished. She now has to have someone with her at all times to protect, seek medical attention, and offer emotional support through the seizures. Sleep for the entire family is almost non-existent because we fear a seizure during the night.
After some serious research and advice, we have decided that a service dog will help Heidi regain some freedom. Her 4-legged hero will be trained to alert us or others when a seizure occurs. This will help her in public places, as well as help her get some much needed sleep without fear of a seizure. Her sweet friend will also offer emotional support and be a constant companion .
With the help of a local friend, we have located a breeder in Atlanta who is willing to help us make Heidi's need for her 4-legged friend a reality! We have resources here to train the dog to meet Heidi's specific needs BUT we need your help!
