Shawn’s Journey to Beat Cancer

Fellow rescuer, and dear friend, Shawn is battling Ocular Melanoma.
Shawn was first diagnosed in 2001. The treatment at that time resulted in losing the vision in her left eye, but the treatment put the cancer into remission for 16 years.
Fast forward to October, 2017 Shawn went to MD Anderson for her regular, yearly check up to find that the melanoma returned and spread to her liver. Shawn qualified for a clinical trial immunotherapy which she started immediately at MD Anderson.
After 4 months, scans showed the cancer had spread to the bone which resulted in her being eliminated from that particular clinical trial. Shawn is currently exploring new treatments at MD Anderson as well Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center in Philadelphia, PA. where there are world renowned Ocular Melanoma specialists.
Shawn is fighting the battle of her life against a disease for which there is no cure, but there is still hope for a cure.
Shawn has been shouldering a heavy financial burden for quite some time while she has been fighting this terrible cancer. She lost her pet sitting business due to the treatments she has been undergoing. She doesn’t ever like asking for help, so I am going to ask for her.
She needs a battalion of angels and prayer warriors, and she desperately needs financial assistance. Some of the financial burdens she faces includes, medicine, travel expenses, gas, food, parking fees at MDA, but more importantly Shawn is going to need financial help getting to Philadelphia which would include hotels, air fare, rental car, food etc....
There’s a lot on her plate and I haven’t even brought up all the day to day bills, like electricity, cable, mortgage, grocery and she uses CBD oil daily to manage pain as she cannot tolerate traditional pain management. The CBD oil is quite expensive.
Shawn is a fighter. She has not given up hope and we aren’t giving up either. She has such a good heart and has been such a voice for the voiceless.
Please, if we could all come together we could get Shawn to Philadelphia to the Ocular Melanoma specialists or least support her in her fight.
