Told by Grant's parents, Debbie & Russ: 9 years ago, Grant was diagnosed with brain cancer. It seemed unreal and not believable when we were told the news Thanksgiving weekend 2008. (Grant was a senior in high school) We entered a whole new chapter of life starting that November nine years ago.

Grant has been a fighter for 9 years! Surgeries, radiation, chemotherapy, hospitals, needles, medicines, scans, blood tests, seizures, necrosis, tumor reoccurrences, nothing was going to stop him. He spent the last 4 years traveling with us to watch Allison play basketball at Hope College and to watch Greg play volleyball for Neuqua, and Sports Performance and traveling to the Grand Canyon, Sedona and California and Florida. He always had a smile and a thumbs up!

A year ago, Grant's tumor came back and we began to treat it with chemotherapy. He was handling it well and even had a stable scan, in April of 2107 and Grant was able to enjoy his 26th birthday in Siesta Key, Florida in April. He spent the summer traveling with us to Michigan and Kansas City. In August, the tumor reoccurred again in multiple areas. We hit it again with chemotherapies.

At his October scan we received the shocking and devastating news that his tumor has spread out of control despite the treatments we were using to battle the reoccurrence in August. Lots of tears.

Now we enter another new phase; make Grant as comfortable as possible and to enjoy his life without hospitals and needles and chemo... At 26 years old, after a 9 year fight, Grant is losing his brave and fierce battle.

Grant has courage, and faith. Brain cancer can't take that from him.

Friends, family and faith are our best medicines moving forward. We take one day at a time, love life and love our Grant. We enjoy our visitors. So don’t be shy to come by and celebrate our day with Grant.

Thank you for keeping Grant, Allison, Greg and us in your prayers.
