Hedgehog Rescue Dublin - new cages

Hi to all our wonderful supporters!
As you may be aware Hedgehog Rescue Dublin was set up in 2013 with one aim, to rescue, rehabilitate and, most importantly, to release wild Irish hedgehogs. We are a registered charity in Ireland (number 20153830) and you can check up out on the Charity Regulatory Authority website.
Since our foundation we have admitted and treated well in excess of 1000 hedgehogs!
Since we started we have been housing our patients in rabbit/guinea pig style cages. Although a good size, these are bulky and not nearly hygienic enough for our patients as they require a lot of maintenance and daily steam cleaning. They have rusted over the years and we no longer feel comfortable housing patients in them. Put simply they are no longer fit for purpose.
The dream from the start was always to have proper "best practice" veterinary style cages that could be disinfected easily and provide the hedgehogs with privacy and warmth as they recover from their injuries and illnesses.
These cages are, as you might imagine, extremely expensive. Nowhere in Ireland manufactures them so we have been getting quotes from the UK - ranging from €7,500 to €16,500. It seems extreme but, as they say, you get what you pay for! Having these cages would give us so much more time to spend on other aspects of the rehabilitation process, not to mention the comfort to our patients.
We would really like to have even 10 of these for the crazy summer season so we are pleading with people to donate, whatever you can, be it €1 or €1,000. Every cent will go towards the cages. They will last us for years and years to come so we feel like the investment is worth it.
We have no paid staff and are all volunteers. We receive no funding whatsoever.
