Heather’s Breast Cancer Fight

Donation protected
Please consider helping Heather through her fight against breast cancer! Every little bit helps!

Let’s be honest. I never in a million years thought I would ever start a go fund me page, let alone thought I would ever need to. But this isn’t for me. This is for an amazing, beautiful, loving, talented, hardworking, selfless soul... my sister, Heather.

Some may already know what is going on with her, but for those who don’t, here it is. This summer Heather found a lump in one of her breast. The doctors worked quickly in identifying it as cancer and subsequently removing the tumor. While they were able to get a good margin around the tumor, the tests showed that 2/5 lymph nodes are cancerous. After a few other tests they were able to determine 1. She won’t need Chemo (Thank the Lord!), 2. She will need radiation and 3. The cancer “feeds” on estrogen.  This means that they need to stop her ovaries from producing estrogen to prevent the recurrence of the cancer.

After discussing her options with the oncologist and fertility specialists, they have decided that going ahead and medically stopping her periods will give her the best odds of survival.

Part of the reason for stopping her from ovulating is that while she may safely carry another baby, the after effects would jumpstart  those cancerous cells in her breast and the cancer could return aggressively. That’s where it becomes more devastating for Heather. She wants more children.

So so that’s where I come in! I thought, “Pshhhh, no big deal, Heather, I’ll carry your babies!” So that settles that, right? Wrong. While insurance will pay for the in vitro fertilization, they don’t, however, pay for the freezing of the eggs. That comes in at about $8,500! Oh, by the way, this needs to take place within the next 2 weeks so she can start radiation. (Which has to start within weeks of surgery or the chance of reoccurrence starts to rise.)

So that’s where you come in. If I could pay for this flat out, I would (I’d do anything for her) but we just made the costly move back to Colorado to be near her to help with everything. So I’m swallowing my pride (and Heather is, too) and asking for help. Please help give Heather the ability to have more children! Every little bit will help!

Thank you so much for your thoughts and Prayers! We will keep everyone updated as we go through this journey!
