Heather’s memorial fund

On July 27th Heather suffered a freak accident while preparing for her kite program in Orlando, Florida. She was  transported to an Orlando trauma center where she was assessed for a concussion and the surgeon on call quickly realized they need to relieve the pressure on her brain.  She was rushed into emergency surgery, placed in a medical coma and given a craniectomy. They were successful! But in the days that followed, Heather didn’t seem to be responding like they’d  hoped.. Due to Heather having a fever and not being able to clear her own airway,  it was decided to do a  tracheostomy.  Two days later the surgeon requested a CT which showed fluid buildup in the brain. Again, she was rushed in for surgery where a stent was placed to drain and relieve pressure.
She is making small strides every day!
That being said, traumatic brain injuries take time to heal. Heather had only recently moved to Orlando to showcase her Acrobatic Kites at Epcot. Her mother flew in from Colorado and her father from The Keys to be her support system.
We are trying to raise funds for her parents to be able to stay close to the Hospital during this time and while Heather is going through rehabilitation. We are also hoping to raise funds to help Heather with some of her living expenses, as she is unable to work indefinitely. There are still so many unknowns. We just want to help lessen the financial burden, so when she is fully conscious, she can focused on healing and recovery. Thank you so much for reading this and for any help you can give!
Thank you
