Heather Bucalos is one of the friendliest people you will ever meet, and if you’ve seen her daily #cancerdancer Facebook posts, you can see the overwhelming joy and positivity that she radiates even through this scary time in her life.
In June 2019, Heather’s worst nightmare came true when she was given the heartbreaking news that after 4 years in remission, she had relapsed with the blood cancer, Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She was told by doctors that the treatment plan will include aggressive chemotherapy with probable Stem Cell Transplant which will require multiple weeks in the hospital. After consulting with Upstate Medical Center doctors, Heather has chosen to put treatment on hold until she makes sure her lifelong dream of being a mom can be preserved. Heather is currently undergoing fertility treatments in Albany, NY for preservation while obtaining second opinions for treatment across NY State. Treatment is expected to begin once fertility preservation is completed.
Currently, Heather needs financial help with fertility costs, transportation to treatment facilities, medical expenses (medications and possible hospital stays), and possible lodging during treatments. Any contribution great or small is greatly appreciated by Heather and her family!
